Rick Thomas recognized as a Portland Business Journal CFO of the year honoree

Quinn Thomas is thrilled to announce that the Portland Business Journal has named our very own Rick Thomas a 2020 CFO of the Year honoree in the small-sized company category. This prestigious award recognizes top financial officers in Oregon and SW Washington.

The Portland Business Journal deems this honor even more impressive considering the global pandemic and unseen economic environment in 2020. Publisher Candace Beeke noted that the honorees inspired their teams through a global pandemic, lead their companies through the most uncertain financial period in recent history and pushed forward quickly and confidently amid a world that required radical change in technology, work environments, employee safety and more.

Rick co-founded Quinn Thomas in 2009. As a strategic leader he spearheads Quinn Thomas’ increasingly complex financial planning. In the last six years, the agency has grown from its two original founders to include 16 professionals in offices in Portland and Seattle. During this time, Rick has carefully guided Quinn Thomas through the funding of an industry-leading benefits package, a stable revenue base that has allowed the agency to scale and a growing balance sheet that provides strategic investment capital and a hedge against economic downturns. Impressively, Rick is self-taught in financial management and has achieved this success while also serving clients. His attention to detail, planning and careful execution has keyed his success as a communications consultant and has also put Quinn Thomas on solid financial footing. His leadership helped land Quinn Thomas on the Portland Business Journal’s fastest-growing companies list last year.

Nominees for CFO of the Year are evaluated on their outstanding performance in their businesses, strong record of innovation in their fields and a clear track record of meaningful community involvement.
